The 1st ASEAN Integrity Dialogue will be held from 21- 22 April 2008 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The event is organised by the Malaysian Institute of Integrity with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Economic Planning Unit (EPU) of the Prime Minister’s Department, and the Anti-Corruption Agency, Malaysia.Themed “International and Regional Cooperation on Strengthening Integrity and Reinforcing Trust,” the two-day ASEAN Integrity Dialogue aims to achieve the following objectives:
- To discuss and analyse global and regional issues related to values, ethics and integrity by focusing on information sharing between ASEAN Countries
- To be the foundation of our efforts to enhance, strengthen and promote a culture of integrity among the Malaysian community, and the possibilities of Malaysia to work closely with her ASEAN friends in enculturing Integrity
- To establish cooperation among the various organisations and institutions from the countries in the region at global level by focusing on ASEAN countries in the effort to enhance the strategies and action plans to promote integrity
The ASEAN Integrity Dialogue will be an excellent avenue for ASEAN countries to exchange views, and learn from each other on the importance of maintaining and strengthening a trusting society imbued with strong spiritual values and high ethical standards.
This inaugural event will be a strong foundation for the ASEAN members to build, strengthen and promote a culture of integrity and to establish cooperation with institutions and organisations that promote integrity at a global level.
Prior to this Dialogue, the institute has successfully organised the World Ethics & Integrity Forum in April 2005, and supported the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency in organising the 2006 OIC Conference on Anti-Corruption, held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. |
